President
I grew up in Woodside, California, and am currently finishing my first year as a post-bacc, aiming to graduate with my MA in the Spring of 2010. I have a BA in Theater and Russian Literature from Reed College. Before returning to school, I lived in New York City and worked in the theater production field. I sing in a honky tonk band with friends, am a huge fan of trampolines, and am looking forward to reinvigorating my Spanish language skills this summer. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you, and encourage everyone to get involved with NSSLHA!
Liason/Advocacy
I was born and raised in San Jose, California. Currently I am finishing up my first year of the post-bac program. I graduated with a BS in child development and a minor in psychology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in the spring of 2006. I had the opportunity to stay in SLO for an extra year after I graduated and work at an amazing Montessori school as a teacher assistant in a preschool/kindergarten classroom. It was there that I was introduced to the speech language pathology profession and decided to pursue a graduate degree in the field. So eventually I made it back to my home town and here I am. I am so excited to be a part of this program and am still not decided on what sort of area I would like to focus on, but I do feel at the moment that I would like to work with children. I look forward to all of the knowledge and experiences that I will gain while completing the postbac/masters degree program.
Fundraising
I was born and raised in Santa Clara, CA and am currently completing my first year of the post-bac program with plans to graduate with an MA in summer 2010. I received my BS in Public Relations from SJSU with a focus in cultural anthropology. After receiving my bachelors, I moved to Seattle, WA for work and a need for an adventure. After a lot of adventures, incredible travels, and some soul searching, I decided to return to school. I have an interest in working with stroke, TBI and dysphagia patients. I have met some incredible people in this program and I am really looking forward to the continuation of this adventure.

Historian
I’m a second year post bac, starting the M.A. sequence this fall. I went to Santa Clara University and have a B.S. in mathematics. Big jump from math over to SLP! It was because during my senior year at SCU I got a job as a behavioral therapist for Cupertino Union School District for children with autism and it just changed my life. I definitely want to work with the autism population after I graduate. Besides school and work, I love being outdoors and the Golden State Warriors!
Past President 2007-2008
Jen has her BA in Business Management Economics from UCSC and she is currently a second year masters student in the CDS program. She is excited to be NSSLHA President for the SJSU chapter and looks forward to getting to know all the students in the program and building stronger ties with National NSSLHA. When not in classes or working with children with Autism, she enjoys traveling, scrap booking, reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
Past Vice President 2007-2008
Sharlene has a BA in Linguistics from UC Santa Cruz and is currently a graduate student in the CDS program. She is excited to take on a leadership role in NSSLHA this year. In her spare time, Sharlene enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. June McCullough Ph.D, CCC-A
Past SJSU NSSLHA Advisor 2007-2008
Dr. McCullough arrived in San Jose following the completion of her Ph.D. in Hearing Science at the University of Iowa in 1986. She was born and raised in Los Angeles. She and her husband Mike are dedicated but lousy golfers. Her older son Kevin has a degree in music, and her younger son Paul is a doctoral student in English at the University of Iowa. She is the co-owner of Hearing Solutions, a private audiology practice serving adults and children in San Jose.
Professor June Antablin McCullough is the director of audiology at SJSU.
Vice President
I grew up in Modesto, California, and am currently a first year post-bac student. I did my undergraduate at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Child Development. I will hopefully be graduating in August 2010, and I would like to work with children in a school setting. I am so excited to be a part of NSSLHA, and I can’t wait to have more of an active role in our department!
Secretary
Originally from sunny San Diego, I attended Long Beach State for my undergrad where I received a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Philosophy. I am currently finishing my first year as a post-bac and am enjoying my time at SJSU. As of now my interests are in the areas of aphasia and TBI in adults and children, but I look forward to working with a diverse population in upcoming clinics. I have found the importance of making connections with professors and fellow students. I am so grateful for my support system from friends in the program and look forward to what next year has in store...
Treasurer
My name is Cody Segalas, I'm 22 years old, and am from the Martinez/Walnut Creek area in California. I am a second year M.A. student, and eventually would like to work in a children’s hospital setting. My advice to incoming students would be to have fun with the classes. Our professors are amazing, involved with many projects, and are there for the student body 100%. Don't be afraid to ask them for help or express interest in their endeavors!
Webmaster and Newsletter
I am a senior undergraduate here at San Jose State. Originally a Communication Studies major, I have found that the CDS program fulfills both my interest in human communication and my strong desire to help people both socially and medically. I find neurological disorders very intriguing and look forward to curing lots of them! I am so excited to be the webmaster for NSSLHA and I look forward to a great year in cyberspace. After classes I spend time with my boyfriend and multiple roommates playing video games and going to Nickel City.
